Overview: Google is a new and growing search engine that has become a major contender in the search engine market
Google is a new contender in the search engine market and is making itself
known with its very powerful and accurate search results. Google's database may be
smaller than some of the large search engines, but
the quality of the results make up for it. Google for example, only
returns results based on all the keywords a user entered. In addition, Google
keeps a local cache of popular sites that are requested, so if the main
webserver of the destination site is down, Google will retrieve their cached copy for quick
access.
Website Information
Submission & Ranking Process
| Google Cache |
Google keeps a local cache copy of many websites indexed in their database to allow for faster access of websites and in case the destination server is temporarily inaccessible. |
|
| META Tag Support |
Google supports the Robots Meta tag and uses your title while indexing your website. It does not appear that Google makes use of the Keywords or Description Meta tag at this time. |
|
| Spidering |
Google will spider or follow all links it finds on your website and index them into their database. You can control the degree of spidering through a standardized robots governing file or META tags [See Robots Generator] |
|
| Submission Time |
Getting listed in Google can either be very quick (under 2 weeks) or very long (several months) depending on their crawl schedule and how many other websites are in queue to be indexed before yours. |
| Special Triggers |
Google has special reserved triggers which can help assess your rankings and positioning once you've submitted
your website to Google. The following are recommended readings for determining your success with search engine marketing:
