Magellan
By Submit Corner
Tell a Friend About This Page
Overview: Magellan is an old search engine which was very popular around the same time Yahoo was introduced
Magellan is an old search engine which was a pioneer in search engine
technologies when it was first released. Originally, Magellan was released
by The McKinley Group, Inc and was later acquired by Excite. Today,
Magellan is a co-branded search engine powered by Excite. Although
Excite and Magellan are very similar in the backend, each branded
version of the search engines receives a large volume of traffic each day
and it is just as important to ensure your webpages are easy to find.
On the plus side, being a branded version of Excite, getting your website
listed in either site will get your website listed in the other search engine as well.
Website Information
Submission & Ranking Process
Magellan uses the same indexing and spidering techniques as Excite does
since they are powered on the same database engine. For submission
details, please cross-reference Excite's Submission details page.
